Wellbody Woman || Summer TRIBE Program || Indian Peaks Wilderness, Colorado || Part 3 of 3
This was such a special trip for me. Not only is Emma an incredible leader, putting together a super bad ass ladies-only backpacking trip into the wilderness, it was also my first overnight away from my son since he was born. I had to pump and dump my breastmilk for the two days I was away, which was both heartbreaking and empowering, but I'm so happy I did it. This was the culmination of the Wellbody Woman TRIBE program, where all of our planning and logistics meetings about gear, and food, and weather, and more gear, came together in a super fun, 20-lady party in the mountains of Colorado.
The hike began from just outside of Nederland, Colorado, and took us several miles into the Rocky Mountains, almost to the Indian Peaks Wilderness. It was perfect weather for our hike in, we only had one tent mishap when it rained in the middle of the night (looking at you, Emma), and the lightning storm held off on our way out until the last 3 minutes of our hike! That's pretty good for late June in Colorado!
Once at our campsite we set up our tents, did some team-building activities, group-hiked up to Lost Lake, ate a bunch of delicious meals together, thanks to Lillian who owns Trail Fork and custom made all of our backpacking food for us. At the end of the night we even managed to make s'mores that were gluten free and vegan over our little camping stoves, as there was a fire ban in effect for the area we were in (despite all the rain). We filtered our own water from the stream near our campsite, dug our own holes to poop in (too graphic? Then you shouldn't be reading a post about backpacking!!), and carried everything we needed for the weekend on our backs. It was such a community-building, empowering, epically scenic, incredible trip, and I am so happy to have been a part of it.
We celebrated making it back alive by stuffing our faces with pizza and beer in Nederland and it was glorious. That being said, I'm currently doing the Wellbody Woman FOOD program and eating fresh green beans for my afternoon snack as I type this. I can't wait to share all about this program, too- but for now, if you want to see part one or part two of the TRIBE program, see below, and if you're interested in joining in any of Emma's future programs, check out her website or instagram! Seriously, she's amazing.
