Linnea + Jason || Engagement Session || Juneau, Alaska
When your friend from high school days is getting married next year in Washington state, but really wants engagement photos where she lives in Juneau, Alaska, you make that engagement session happen!! (especially when you have miles on Alaska Air and can get there for free!) Linnea and Jason are two of the sweetest, most dog-lovingest, awesome people we know, and graciously housed our family of three, complete with an early-morning-riser-crying-baby, and showed us around their town for three days. They were in the process of buying a house, and doing all the house-buying things while we were there, but still made time to take us around to the best places in town - the new (and very hip) distillery Amalga, a delicious brewery called Devil’s Club, and then of course the new whale statue that sprays water and looks like a real whale jumping out of the ocean. I posted that on my instagram stories and legit fooled some people (you know who you are).
Juneau is notoriously cloudy, but we had full sunshine on almost all of the days, enjoying mostly 75-80 degree weather the entire time we were there! (it’s crazy to hike up to a glacier while it’s 80-something degrees outside). The day we did the majority of their engagement photos was perfectly overcast, with a little drizzle halfway through to keep us moving, and on the other days we were able to capture some sunlight streaming through those beautiful rainforest backdrops. Their precious doggie Archer was a trooper, and came with us for a lot of the photos, leading the way down the paths to the beaches, sniffing out all the animals under the rocks, and chasing anything that moves. He even sat still for a few photos- but mostly he just played on the beach while we took the rest of their engagement photos.
I’ve never seen such incredibly varying scenery in one place like this before- Juneau is truly magical, and I’m so glad we were able to make it up there for this engagement session in Alaska. If you ever have the chance to visit this cute little town, do it!
