Outdoor Colorado Wedding Photographer - Tapestry House, Watson Lake, Laporte and Fort Collins
Summer weddings in Colorado are always epic. We’ve photographed weddings in all types of weather, with all sizes of wedding parties, at all sorts of wedding venues, and no matter what, every Colorado wedding winds up being epic in its own way. For us, weddings are made by the people. Yes, you can stress for hours over what colors you want to have in your wedding, what shade of yellow goes with the gray (which Katie and Drew nailed, I might add) and how much green to use around the white flowers- but in the end, what matters most about your wedding day is the people. The people who are in your wedding, the people who are at your wedding, and the two people getting married. Sometimes weddings are ONLY two people (you can solemnize your own wedding here in Colorado, did you know?) and sometimes it’s a fancy affair with 300 guests, 4 llamas, 3 tiered cakes and fireworks - but we believe that however you celebrate your love, in the end, what matters most, is the love you share with each other!
Katie and Drew met up for their first look at Watson Lake in Laporte, just up the road from their ceremony site at the Tapestry House. We’ve witnessed a lot of first looks, and we’ve actually found that it can be just as intimate as waiting until the ceremony, as you have time to really connect, and have a few special moments alone beforehand. Then, once the ceremony is over, if you’ve already taken couples photos and family photos, you can celebrate together with your family and friends during your cocktail hour, instead of being whisked away to finish family formals. It’s another reason we love helping couples figure out their timeline for the day, as we’re with you for all of it, and we can help with the logistics of how to get the most photos in the least amount of time (read: how to enjoy your reception while also getting epic pics!).
They had about 150 people for their wedding at The Tapestry House, and had the most perfect weather for their outdoor ceremony. It was a little bit overcast (which is a photographer’s dream) but it wasn’t windy, and it was a perfectly warm summer evening. Every one of their friends and family enjoyed incredible food, fun games, a cozy fire, awesome donuts, and super fun dancing. When we initially met up with Katie and Drew for the first time (at the delicious Fort Collins breakfast joint, Snooze) we knew they were an awesome couple. They both play soccer, they love dogs (helloooo), and they love to travel. They are so warm and welcoming, hilarious and sweet, and we were honored to have been hired to be a part of their wedding day.
I always ask our wedding couples if they could describe their partner in one word, what would that be, and here’s what they said:
Katie on Drew: Warmhearted
Drew on Katie: Amazing
Congrats to these two newlyweds! Cheers to many more years of love and happiness!!
