Maggie + Jake || Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado
Maggie and Jake found us online through our listing on Rocky Mountain Bride, and they found each other through the dating app Bumble. It's so heartwarming to know that even in this age of technology, real, true human connections can be made through the internets. They sent letters back and forth to each other for three months before moving to Colorado Springs, where Jake proposed just a few months ago! Maggie contacted me the day after they got engaged, and we chatted about their plan to elope in Rocky Mountain National Park before Jake was getting deployed in May. Their families had never met before the wedding, and both Maggie and Jake are only children, so this was a very special occasion! They had never been to Rocky Mountain National Park before, either, so I helped them decide on a location for their elopement ceremony, settling on 3M Curve. If you haven't been to this site before, it's a beautiful spot overlooking Longs Peak, and Moraine Park.
They are some of the most genuine, laid-back, sweet and in-love people I've had the pleasure of getting to photograph. On the day of their elopement, we had just about every weather pattern under the sun. The day started out rather windy but with blue skies, but then by the time we drove up to the ceremony site, the clouds were moving in, and it quickly turned to rain. It began snowing a little as they exchanged vows, and then we had big fat wet snow for the family portraits. It only lasted about 10 minutes, though, before the Colorado blue skies came out again, and then it was even downright hot for a minute- I photographed the whole thing in my Chacos, because that's how we roll in Colorado, and everyone was in good spirits no matter what the weather was doing. The day was about celebrating Maggie and Jake, and their love for each other, and their families were just a delight to hang out with. One we finished up family photos, we tromped around to some beautiful spots in the park for some couples photos, but the snowy weather started rolling back in again, so we headed back to the condo they rented in Estes Park, where they celebrated with champagne and doughnuts.
We are truly blessed to get to work with such awesome couples. This was the most wonderful way to kick off our 2018 wedding season - my first wedding after becoming a mom, and our first elopement of the year. We couldn't have asked for a nicer pair of sweethearts to work with- and the good news is, that as soon as Jake is back from his deployment, we get to hang out with these two again! Bring on all the Colorado brewery tours! Woohoo! Congrats Maggie + Jake, and thank you for letting us be a part of your incredible day!
