Zwei Ist Zwei || Zwei Brewing
Max here again.-
Zwei Brewing is a fantastic brewery on the south side of Fort Collins that just reached their two year anniversary. Sonja and I were invited to shoot some photos of the party that they put on, and in Fort Collins you don't refuse an invite to work a brewery anniversary party. Anniversary parties in the Fort Collins beer scene are always awesome. The brewery always comes correct with their best and most interesting products. And Zwei.....Zwei did not disappoint.
Zwei translates to 'two' in German. The brewery was started by two brothers. They have been in business for two years. See what is going on here? Zwei. Two. Two brothers. Zwei the brewery is now two years old. "Zewi Ist Zwei". Deep right?
The crew at Zwei Brewing specialize in German-style beer, and if you know Fort Collins beer, odds are that you know the Lombardi brothers. Kirk and Eric have been in town a long time and are known for the awesome German-style beer they brew. They are also highly decorated. Ten plus major medals and a bunch of GABF medals make them leaders in the industry. It is a big deal to win one medal at GABF; these guys have won multiple medals, but you wouldn't know it by talking to either of them. They are two of the nicest, most down-to-earth people you will meet. Two years ago the brothers busted out and opened their own brewery, and they are quickly becoming a Fort Collins staple. The brothers brew all of the traditional German styles like Helles, Pils, Dunkle, and Weissbeir, but they also stretch out and brew some crazy experimental craft brews too. Zwei Brewing is pretty much "required reading" if you are exploring Fort Collins beer, and you can't really discuss our city's brewing industry without having them in the conversation. They are that good at what they do. Honestly though, for how awesome they are, they are still a bit under the radar and that is what makes them so great. I have a feeling it won't be for long. If you are ever in town I would highly recommend paying Zwei Brewing a visit where there is "A Biergarten and Chestnut tree in every glass."
